About The krewe of rio
The story of the Krewe of Carnivale en Rio began in 2005 when a group of eleven friends, decided to bring a new approach to Mardi Gras Carnival merriment to Acadiana, inspired by the spirit of the world famous Carnival in Rio de Janeiro.

Want to join in on the Krewe of Rio fun? Krewe of Rio hosts a variety of events, so you can always have something to look forward to, no matter the time of year! Whether it's our Rio Sambada, Ball, Parada or Crawfish Boil, let's get together and celebrate life!
Summer Sambada
Rio hosts their Members Only Annual Sambada to officially announce the New King and Queen. Add your name to the Royalty Lottery and you’ll surely enjoy the Mardi Gras season. Ask any past Royalty Member, as they always say “YES TO ROYALTY!”
Rio Ball
The Annual Krewe of Rio Ball is a themed adventure of fun, friends and Mardi Gras fanfare! With bold costumes, special effects, great music and over 2,000 glittering spectators, the Krewe of Rio Ball is an experience you will never forget.
Rio Parada
The Parada of the Krewe of Rio has become the premier Mardi Gras event in Acadiana. The Parada has become known for its colorful floats, dazzling lights and dancers and the huge amount of beads, throws and custom maracas we shower on the faithful parade-goers.
