Become a Rio Member for the 2024 - 2025 Mardi Gras Season!
Join the Krewe of Rio by submitting your online application below. Please read & acknowledge the Code of Conduct, then complete the online application. See below for payment information. Thank You!
What is a Rio membership?
A Rio membership is for two people and is comprised of a primary member and a secondary member / guest. The Krewe does not offer single memberships.
The Benefits of Membership
Membership in the Krewe of Rio comes with a terrific package of benefits including:
Two Admissions to the members-only summer dance party, the Rio Sambada.
Two Admissions to the annual Rio Ball in January (member tickets are non-transferable).
Two rider spots on a parada float in our annual Rio Parada.
Two Admissions to our annual Spring Crawfish Boil.
How do I become a member?
All potential members must be sponsored by two current Krewe members in good standing. The two sponsors must be from separate memberships (not two members on the same membership). The names of these two members will need to be selected on your online application form. If you do not have two sponsors, please email us at membership@riolafayette.com.
After completing the application form, please submit your $700 payment to begin the New Member application process. This includes:
A one-time Initiation Fee of $200 for each new membership.
The Annual Membership Fee of $500 per membership.
Here are some additional expenses that may apply to you if you choose to ride in the parada:
Purchase an official Rio Parada float rider costume from the Krewe of Rio. This costume is a one-time purchase if you stay on the same float each year.
Purchase a bead package or equivalent dollar amount of beads & throws from the Krewe of Rio. This policy is for every year that you ride in the Rio Parada.
Contribute to the Parada Day festivities that can include food and drinks on the float, face paint, etc. This amount is set by each float captain to help pay for the float's amenities. This policy is for every year that you ride in the Rio Parada.
